Naturium Round Up -- My Favorite Skincare Line of 2020!
It's very rare when a skincare line develops literally (almost) everything you need to create a full skincare routine. But low & behold... Susan Yara is doing just that with her skincare line Naturium. If you haven't already heard of this brand, I suggest you visit their website here or find them on Amazon & Target to check them out.
So now that you've snooped their products, want to know how I really feel about Naturium? Well, my skin has never been better since adding their products into my routine. From science-backed products to affordable pricing (everything is $15-$25!) to being truly effective products, this skincare brand is here to stay & ready dominate the beauty industry (as if it hasn't already). Now let's take a look at my many faves & give you the low-down!
Let's talk cleanser first. Their Niacinamide Cleansing Gelee 3% has been a treat to use because of its unique essence-like, jelly texture. Because it contains hyaluronic acid & vitamin C, it leaves my skin super hydrated & bright while making sure my face is rid of all impurities, like makeup & oil. It also has a subtle lather that works on either dry or wet skin that makes the cleansing experience very luxe. One tip for this one: apply it as a mask & leave it on for a couple of minutes. You'll be left with crazy hydrated skin. Thank me later.
Now onto essence. I'm currently using their Niacinamide Essence 3%. I've also used their Hyaluronic Acid Essence 2%, which I find to be equally as hydrating & viscous. I use this product day & night to add moisture right after I wash my face or get out of the shower & to basically prep my skin for all the other products I'll apply later. Be sure to keep your face damp so that the essence can absorb much more effectively.
Ok... acids! Ever since Naturium started to roll out all of its acid products, I realized that I was missing a huge part of my routine. My one true love, though, is the BHA Liquid Exfoliant 2%. It contains not only salicylic acid, but fruit acids as well, which means that this product works both deep into the pores & on the surface layer of the face. It decongests my pores & overall gives me the most radiant glow. Rather than stripping my face of any sort of moisture, it's surprisingly super hydrating as well. I use this both day & night everyday, but only because my skin can handle it. If you have more sensitive skin, I would limit this to your PM skincare routine & to start off by using it 2-3x/week.
If you're looking for some gentle exfoliation, PHA Topical Acid 12% is your guy. It has lingonberry stem cells & hyaluronic acid to overall fight the signs of photo-aging & act as a natural humectant. Personally, I don't find this irritating at all. I highly recommend this if you have more sensitive skin since PHAs are naturally a larger molecule, exfoliating at the surface level of the skin, & because it's incredibly hydrating.
The last exfoliant I use is the Glycolic Acid Resurfacing Gel 10%. This is great to use if you have non-sensitive dry, flaky skin. It's a slightly smaller molecule compared to a PHA, which means it can penetrate the skin at a much faster rate. If your skin is sensitive, you might want to look into their PHA Topical Acid 12% instead. But back to the glycolic acid... its main job is to slough off dead skin cells, which helps to improve overall skin texture & hyperpigmentation. This also comes in an 8% concentration if the 10% is too potent for you. I like to apply this 2-3x/week at night if I feel like my skin overly dry.
As for serums, I have quite a few favorites that are always in rotation. My favorite of them all is the Niacinamide Serum 12% + Zinc 2%. Because niacinamide is an all around great ingredient for all skin types, I highly recommend this one. It minimizes the look of pores, balances sebum production, & even gets rid of any texture & fine lines. Ever since I started using this, my pores have looked small, I'm not as oily as much anymore, & the texture on my face has definitely improved. I use this mainly in my AM routine, but will use it both day & night if I feel like my skin needs it.
Another one of the popular serums I use is their Vitamin C Complex Serum. A beautifully formulated vitamin C product that contains both encapsulated L-ascorbic acid & sodium ascorbyl phosphate (vitamin C derivative) as well as hyaluronic acid & vitamin E (mainly to keep formula stable). Overall, this is such a great brightening & hydrating serum. I apply it every morning with an SPF to give myself the ultimate protection.
One serum I use occasionally is the Vitamin C Super Serum Plus. This is a product that is formulated with both vitamin C & retinol along with hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, & salicylic acid (anti-inflammatory). Normally, you'd want to use vitamin C & retinol in separate routines (AM & PM) to maximize the benefits of both, but since both of these ingredients are encapsulated, they're actually never interacting with one another. Basically, if you want an all-around one-stop product that brightens, hydrates, & strengthens your skin, this is the one you need in your routine.
The last category I've tried from Naturium is moisturizer. Let's talk about the Niacinamide Gel Cream 5% first. Can you guys tell how obsessed I am with niacinamide yet? This moisturizer is great for days you want something more lightweight. It doesn't have as high of a concentration like the serum, so if you feel like your pores don't need much tending to or you're not too oily, this is great to use. I apply this mainly in my AM routine alone or in my PM routine, but layered up with another moisturizer or mask, like their Intense Overnight Sleeping Mask. This is such a plush mask that has a marshmallow-like texture. I love using on no makeup days when my skin just needs some extra pampering or overnight when my skin needs extra moisture.
Wow, ok. That was a lot to digest. I hope you found this run-down of my favorite products from Naturium helpful. Of course if you have any questions regarding the products, please reach out to them on their Instagram or through their customer service. If you can, please do yourselves a favor & try this line out for yourselves! You won't regret it.
