Moisturizers I Loved This Summer
As someone with combination oily skin, I look for products that are jam-packed with hydrating ingredients, but don't sit heavy on the face. Products that provide adequate hydration (humectants) & moisture (occlusives) firm & plump the skin, reducing the look of fine lines & wrinkles; they protect the skin against environmental stressors, such as allergens & pollutants; & for us oily skin types, they help balance & control sebum production. Here I list my top 3 favorite hydrating moisturizers that performed well in all of the areas mentioned during this past summer:
The moisturizer I've been loving the most is Klairs' Freshly Juiced Vitamin E Mask! The main ingredients in this one include vitamin e (antioxdiant), niacinamide (water-soluble vitamin), & adenosine (anti-aging). It also contains both humectants & emollients to really hydrate & moisturize the skin. Let me just tell you... this one has been such a favorite of mine since Soko Glam sent it in a PR package. I have other moisturizers to try in my skincare cabinet, but I can't seem to let go of this one because of how incredibly hydrating, moisturizing, cooling, & brightening it is. It comes in a unique jelly-type formula, which I scoop out with a small spoon that it comes with. Another thing I'd like to mention is although it's marketed as a mask, I do wear this as my regular moisturizer. You can definitely use it either way.
Another one from Klairs I've been loving is their Fundamental Water Gel Cream. This moisturizer contains Jeju green tea water (calming), glycerin (humectant), panthenol (humectant), & a ton of amino acids to strengthen the skin's moisture barrier. I prefer to use this one primarily during the day time because of its lightweight, fluid consistency. Although it's more lightweight, it doesn't mean it's not hydrating. Many of its ingredients are humectants, which helps the skin's outermost layer to draw moisture from its environment or deeper skin layers & retain it to stay hydrated.
Good (Skin) Days On the Bright Side Moisturizer is another moisturizer that I enjoy using during the day time. This is another lightweight formulation (much lighter than the Klairs gel cream) that absorbs quickly into the skin & doesn't feel occlusive whatsoever. It contains a ton of humectants, ceramides, & fermented ingredients that really nourish & plump the skin. I also enjoy the packaging of this product, too, because it comes in a tube vs. a jar like the previous two. If you're looking for a moisturizer that's straightforward, easy to use, & contains ingredients that are super beneficial to the skin, I would definitely look into this one.
The last moisturizer I want to mention is the Stratia Liquid Gold. This one is formulated with cholesterol, ceramides, & fatty acids, which are the main components of our skin's moisture barrier. Specific ingredients include sea buckthorn oil (fatty acids) & niacinamide (water-soluble vitamin) to brighten & repair the skin. An incredibly weightless formula that gives normal to oily skin types just enough hydration. If you have a more dry skin type, I would suggest using this as the first moisturizer, then going in with a second, much heavier one.
