How To Style: An Oversized Blazer

My style has come a very long way, but if there's one piece that has stuck it out over the past decade, it's a classic blazer. The main reason why I love blazers is that it can easily dress up & sophisticate any look without trying too hard. I shot two separate looks so you can see how I styled Aritzia's 'The Agency' blazer.

DRESSY

For this first look, I went for a dressy, summer day look. I kept the colors light & airy, & avoided over-accessorizing. Underneath the blazer, I stuck to my go-to monochromatic look with an off-white colored one-shoulder knitted top & pleated high-waisted shorts. Because this blazer is slightly oversized in nature & doesn't give my body much shape, I wanted the base of my outfit to do this for me. I have a T-shaped body (if you haven't already seen the 'Body Shape' chart I created, click here!), so the high-waisted shorts actually gives the illusion that my hips are the same width as my shoulders because of the cinching at the waist, wide legs, plus having my top tucked in. My goal for this particular outfit was to make it appear like I have an X-body shape. I completed the outfit with a pair of Steve Madden PVC/suede heels (sold out - similar). Since the shorts are slightly long, my legs ended up looking pretty short. Adding a PVC type heel to this outfit elongated my legs, making me taller not just physically, but visually.

MODEL-OFF-DUTY

For this second outfit, I call this my 'model-off-duty' or 'running errands really quick, but still want to look cute' look. My goal for this one was to look put together without looking like I tried too hard lol. The base of this outfit is this Nordstrom BP cami with Target biker shorts that essentially looks like a bodysuit when hidden underneath the blazer. You see what I did there? It's all about creating illusions! Again, these two pieces give my body shape, but in a different way; they are more form-fitting than they are trying to make me look proportional. For this particular outfit, I would keep the blazer on with the sleeves either left alone or rolled up rather than wearing the tank & shorts alone. The blazer is essentially what makes the outfit, so without it, it'd be pretty b-a-s-i-c. For the shoes, I decided to pair the outfit with my Balenciaga speed sneakers because, again, this outfit has more of a casual & comfy vibe to it. I also topped it off with my Céline small sangle bag, which adds to the casual vibe & makes it seem like I'm going to run a quick errand or go to the grocery store!
