Bag Review: Christian Dior Small Book Tote

The Christian Dior Small Book Tote has earned a spot in my small, but mighty handbag collection. I purchased this from my amazing SA at the Wynn boutique in Las Vegas early March when it was released here in the U.S., & I've been obsessed with it ever since.

The main reason I purchased this was to use it as a personal bag when traveling & even while shopping when I know I'll be making a ton of small purchases so that I can just toss it in. There is a larger size available, but I knew the small size was perfect for me because it basically fits my lifestyle. I usually purchase small bags because, to be honest, I never carry more than I need -- usually my keys, card holder, lip balm, phone, & sunglasses or eyeglasses. Even when I travel, I'll carry a large toiletry pouch that'll hold tissues, wipes, hand sanitizer, lotion, & whatever else I feel like I'll need for my flight. This makes me think about what is necessary to pack & helps me pack more minimally.

First thing's first... the canvas design is everything! The toile de jouy canvas completely makes it a unique piece for someone who appreciates details. There are many design options, but I knew this one was the one for me.

In terms of the structure, this tote is very structured, but foldable at the base of the bag so that it's able to be flat if you wanted it to. There are two handles that I wear on the crook of my arm or with one hand -- I wouldn't wear it over-the-shoulder because the handles aren't long enough to be able to wear it this way. I know this aspect of the bag is not for everyone, but the inside of the bag is completely empty space. I don't mind this too much because I bought a bag organizer in the color 'Dark Navy' from Samorga that I can easily remove & reinsert into my book tote. It has a ton of pockets inside & comes with a removal zipper top as well if you're like me & prefer that your bags come with a zipper.

Some of the things to note about this bag in this specific design is that there may be some loose threading present. I'm thinking this may worsen quite a bit over time with more use & if I'm not careful about what I'm bumping my bag into. Another concern I have is possible discoloration of the handles. This bag is a navy & off-white color, so every time I hold the bag, the handles may darken the more I use it.

Despite some of my concerns, I would highly recommend the Christian Dior small book tote if you're looking for a new travel, work, or everyday bag. I want to note this bag is not for everyone. I did extensive research prior to purchasing this bag & ensured it was something I would get use out of. In general, I only purchase bags that I know I'll use frequently. Although we're not traveling quite yet during this pandemic, I know I'll get my money's worth when I'm able to use my PTO to travel!
